CSU Passive Optical Observatory at Platteville
- Dr. Biff Williams of Colorado State University operates a passive optical
facility in a trailer at the NOAA radar site near Platteville, CO.
- Since August 2001, the Whitworth College OH imager has operated automatically
taking broadband OH images at a 2 min cadence at night.
- A sodium imager operated built by Biff Williams operated during several
periods in 2002. That imager is currently being converted use the green line
of OI at 557.7nm.
- Takuji Nakamura has installed another OH imager at the Yucca Ridge
Observatory northeast of Fort Collins, CO to do optical tomography with the
Platteville OH imager to determine OH layer altitudes.
- Kazuo Shiokawa installed 3 OH temperature photometers from September
to November, 2003 to calibrate against the CSU sodium lidar temperatures.
