QSCAT climatology

Averaged QSCAT winds are presented for the 5-year time period of 2000-2004. QSCAT observations (Level 2B, Dirth) are collected and averaged on a 0.5° x 0.5° grid. For quality control, the outermost three wind vector cells (WVC) on both sides of each scatterometer swath are excluded, and rain-flagged WVC with wind speeds of < 15m/s are also excluded. For comparison, the averages for blended QSCAT/NCEP, and NCEP are presented as well.
