I think that you can use the description in a recent solar physics paper. Only one difference between my previous USM method and the present method is that  a box size for an average transverse field in the third step is much larger for the present case, which gives a more reasonable resolution. I just started long holidays (oriental thanks giving days). The following is my brief comments on this test. 1. Transverse fields showing rotating patterns in flowers seem to be too artificial. At all sunspot areas, the transverse fields have very strong shear (shear angle is around  90 degree). 2. To determine a most reasonable potential field method is important since the potential field method is used as a first step for several methods. 3. In a physical sense, a comparison of physical quantities such as vertical current density and magnetic shear (or transverse-weighted shear) is preferred. For example, if vertical densit distributions are similar to one another, there would be no siginificant difference in interpreting underlying physics. 4. The application to real magnetograms is much more  important. We may select several typical active regions (from simple to complex). Even though we have no idea of real fields, we can compare physical quanitities and their differences. To check whether a physical understanding is different according to ambiguity resolution is important. In this case, we can think of some criteria to select  which method is reasonable. The potential candidates are : which method give the minimum sum of absolute vertical current density or the sum of divergence transverse field etc. Best wishes, Moon    ------------> Original Message <------------ > From : K.D. If it is not possible, I have the manuscript from last year. Since we will consider your method it'd be great to have a short summary of its important features and how you applied it for discussion. thanks, --KD ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ .
