This folder contains data cubes from a Cartesian flux-emergence simulation named "SD" (strong dipole), which was performed with the Lare3D code by Leake et al. (2013) and later analyzed in Torok et al. (2014). Note that the run analyzed in Torok et al. (2014) has a slightly different setup, but is qualitatively the same (see first paragraph in Torok et al. for the differences). The folder contains copies of these two articles. The original data cubes from Leake et al. (2013) were interpolated here to a uniform grid. They contain the three components of the magnetic field B and the current density J, respectively, as well as the coordinates x, y, and z. To comply with the file-size-limit of the repository (2Gb), we reduced the original extension along the z direction from z=[-30,170] to z=[-10,90]. Data dumps at three different times are provided: t = 0 (initial dipole background field) t = 170 (time shown in Figures 2, 3, and 5 in Torok et al. (2014)) t = 400 (final snapshot of the simulation) The data cubes are stored in netcfd format. The folder contains some (hopefully self-explanatory) IDL and Python code that allow one to read the data. Please contact me (tibor@predsci.com) if you should have problems reading the data.
